Michael Raymond Palmason

It is with the greatest sadness and heartbreak that the family of Michael Raymond Palmason announce his passing at the age of 54, after a fight with glioblastoma, Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. He was born July 5, 1964, in Seattle to Ray and Lynda Palmason.

Mike went to Longview schools and then moved to Chehalis, graduating from W. F. West High School in 1982. He went to Centralia College to get his associate of arts degree and went on to graduate with his bachelor's in computer science from the University of Phoenix.

Mike married his best friend, Heidi, May 10, 1986. They were happily married for 32 years. In these empty nest years, Mike and Heidi loved spending vacations in Mexico with "toes in the sand"!

He loved his family and enjoyed doing any and all family activities. Some of the very best times were just hanging out with his kids, Kassandra, Tana and Torrell. His pride and joy were his granddaughters, Allie, Sloane and Avery. He loved playing with them as much as they loved playing with him!

He was a emergency medical technician on St. Helens, Care, AMR ambulance. Mike then went into human resource departments at Weyhauser, Lewis County Mill, Mason County Mill, at the state for DNR and ESD. He also was a first aid instructor and taught classes all over the state for ESD. He coached over 20 years and has touched thousands of lives in Lewis County. He loved making an impact and working with kids. Mike loved going wine tasting and sharing what he knew about it, so much that he got his mixologist license so he could poor wine for one of the local wineries. Mike could talk about wine to anyone.

He is survived by is wife, Heidi; and his children, Kassanda (Chris) Butler, Tana (Tara) Peerenboom and Torrell Palmason. Mike will also be fondly remembered by his three granddaughters, Allie, Sloane and Avery; his parents, Ray (Donna) Palmason and Lynda Walnuk; sister, Karla (Pat) Oster; niece, Tiffany Chambers; nephew, Trey Chambers; great-nephew, River Chambers; and the other girls in his life, "his chickens". 

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis, Wash. Please come celebrate Mike’s life, have a glass of wine and tell us a funny story. Wear your favorite Seahawks shirt or sports team shirt. This is what Mike would want because he loved his sports.
