Michael Leroy Ramsey, 62, of Colstrip, Mont., died Saturday, May 6, 2017, doing what he loved at the Rosebud Mine in Colstrip, Mont.

Mike was born Feb. 3, 1955, in Tacoma, Wash. He graduated from W. F. West High School, in Chehalis, Wash., in 1973. Mike joined the United States Navy, serving three years, where he proudly was a boatswain’s mate in Port Hueneme, Calif. He served on the USS Norton Sound. Mike returned to his hometown of Chehalis, Wash., and worked for L&E Bottling Company. He worked for many years, long haul truck driving, eventually landing his dream job for Transalta Mining Company, in Chehalis, Wash. The mines closure in 2006, led him to Montana to work at the Rosebud Mine, where he worked until his death.

In his younger days, Mike enjoyed playing men’s slow-pitch. He loved classic cars and NASCAR races. Mike loved and treasured the friendships he developed over his lifetime. In his later years, he developed a deep love for Eastern Montana and the people that surrounded him there.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Vivian Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Donna of Colstrip; sister, Karen (Ron) Boquist; son, Jayce Ramsey; uncle, Les (Jill) Ramsey; step-daughters, Corinne (Paul) Williams and Sarah (Steve) Burdick; six grandchildren, Jaiden Ramsey, Brandon (Amanda) Williams, Brooke (Jeremy Caesar) Williams, Spencer Sawyer, and Sadie Burdick; and two great-grandsons, Paxton and Rowan Williams; along with numerous cousins.

Services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the Baw Faw Grange in Curtis, Wash. There will be a potluck luncheon immediately following the service.
