Maureen Eileen Acuff Batten

On Sept. 1, 2015, Maureen's spirit was reunited with her parents, Art and Mildred Acuff, two brothers, Artie and Dennis, after a two year cancer battle.

She leaves behind her beloved and amazing husband, Donald, son, Andrew, daughter, Melissa, two brothers, Kevin (Kim) and Brian (Becky), two sisters, Diane (Phil) and Angie (Ken) and BFF, Patricia Petrino.

Maureen was born in Aberdeen, Washington, Aug. 31, 1954. She moved to Olympia and attended St. Michael Parish School, St. Placid High School and graduated from Olympia High School. She received her BA in English from St. Martin University, was certified in education and later, an MA from Walden. Maureen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chehalis.

She was a beautiful, creative, sensitive teacher for her family, friends and students at Toledo Elementary School. Maureen lived her life with joy and compassion for others. She loved singing and playing the guitar, scrapbooking, stamping, musicals and reading. Her life was devoted to her husband, children, family and numerous friends who she collected and kept her entire life.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Martin's University, Art Acuff endowed Scholarship fund (Lacey, Washington) or Virginia Mason hospital pancreatic cancer research (Seattle, Washington) in her name.

Mass of Christian burial for Maureen will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chehalis.

Arrangements are under the care of Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock.
