Mary Catherine Rakoz

Mary Catherine Rakoz, 80, entered into eternal peace,  May 16, 2018, at her home in Chehalis, Wash., after fighting a five year battle with cancer. She was born in Chehalis, Jan. 22, 1938, to Katherine (Swetz) and Clarence Roberts. She graduated from W. F. West High School, in 1955.

Mary married Leo Rakoz, the love of her life, April 14, 1956. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Together, they founded Rakoz Electric. Before Rakoz Electric was started, Mary worked as a receptionist for Doreen (Strickland) McEwen, at Doreen’s Hair Care and also worked as a receptionist for Dr. George Mohoric.

Mary and Leo have two boys, Rick (Cindy) and Randy (Kim); four grandchildren, Ryan (Mallory), Andy (Ashlee), Megan and Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Benny.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers.

Mary was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Heart Association Memorial Chairman, Daughters of the Pioneers, Claquato Cemetery Board Member and Providence Hospital Foundation Board Member. She also volunteered at the Visiting Nurses and co-chaired the Festival of Trees for many years.

Mary loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed holidays. Mary especially enjoyed Christmas, traveling and making greeting cards.

A celebration of life is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at The Jester Auto Museum,  Chehalis, Wash.
