Marie Rosalie Hunter, 91, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at her residence in Centralia. She was born  June 5, 1927, in Mankato, Kan.; one of seven children born to Myron E. and Florence M. (Mohler) Hunter.

Her family moved to Randle, Wash., in 1934, when Marie was seven years old. In 1946, she moved to Chehalis, where she joined the Westside Chehalis Neighborhood Association and the ladies’ group at the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eagles Aerie #556 Auxiliary in Castle Rock.

Marie was a telephone operator and maintenance technician at U.S. West. She enjoyed her retirement years; working in her yard, knitting, sewing, embroidery and reading were some of her best loved activities. Marie was very family oriented, in fact, her family and friends will likely remember her lovely hand written letters, another of her favorite pastimes.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Florence Hunter; brothers, Dallas, Clifford  and Myron M. Hunter; and sister, Threesa V. Salzer.

She is survived by brother, Leonard Hunter; sister, Vera J. Piercy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, 16 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis, WA 98532, with the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., also Friday at the same location, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will immediately follow the reception at 1 p.m., at the Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Rd., Chehalis, WA 98532.
