Lavina Pearl Kraupa

Lavina Pearl Kraupa passed away Nov. 20 2018, with her loving family at her side. Pearl was born in Toppenish, Wash., March 17, 1935.

She survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Don; and her four children, Judy, Lori, Donna and Donald. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her devoted sister, Lilly (Gary) Lindbo; and many nieces and nephews.

Pearl met Don when she helped his mother on the dairy farm in Auburn, Wash. Don later joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Merced, Calif. Coming home on leave, he proposed to Pearl and they were married in 1952.For the next 66 years, they remained devoted to each other. While in Merced, daughter, Judy was born. After Don's time in the service, they moved back to Auburn were Pearl became the loving mom to Lori and Donna.

In 1962, they moved to Tenino, Wash., to the dairy farm on the Skookumchuck River. Shortly after the move, son, Donald Jr. was born. It was in Tenino and on the farm that Pearl found home. In 1972, the Kraupa family was honored to be named the Washington State Dairy Family of the Year. Many years later when memories of family began to fade, Pearl would always recall her love for Tenino. Pearl loved being part of her children's and grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed going to their school events, sporting games, dance recitals and even taught a couple of them how to drive. She was a past member of Thurston County Diary Wives, 4-H Leader, a member of the Skookumchuck Grange and volunteered with the South Thurston County Historical Society. Pearl will be remembered for the loving, warmhearted, caring and considerate person she was who always put others feelings ahead of her own. Her generous spirit will remain with those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church of Tenino, 196 Central Ave. E, with burial following at Forest Grove Cemetery and reception at the Skookumchuck Grange. ln lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation to Alzheimer's Association.
