Lance M. Ogden

Lance M. Ogden, 51, of Winlock, Wash., passed away of liver failure Jan. 30, 2019. He was born March 7, 1967, in Chehalis, Wash., the son of Gerald Ogden, now deceased, and Carol Ogden Leyton.

Lance graduated from Eastern Washington University. He became a sports writer for several newspapers, later becoming sports editor in Joplin, Mo., Midland, Texas, Pendleton, Ore., and Grants Pass, Ore. While a sportswriter, Lance was recognized as a top sports columnist by his peers and received several state-wide awards for his articles. His latest job, Lance worked at central design desk for Pamplin Media in Milwaukie, Ore. 

He also enjoyed coaching his girls’ softball teams, as well as collecting sports paraphernalia and music.

Lance is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and children, Brooklyn and Jacklyn of Milwaukie, Ore. He also is survived by his mother, Carol Leyton and husband, Gerardo; sister, Laurie Ogden Eutsler, husband, Dan and children; and brother, Burke Falor, wife, Chris and children. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan Ray Ogden.

A memorial service will be held for Lance at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at the Winlock Community Building. Donations may be sent to the Winlock Little League Field.
