Juanita Dall Boone

On July 25, 2015, after a long and fulfilling life, Juanita Dall Boone went home to be with the Lord. Juanita was born  Sept. 12, 1927 in Jetmore, Kansas to Robert and Pearl Jones. The family moved to Portland in 1942. A couple years later, they moved to Toledo, Washington. On June 8, 1945, she married the love of her life, Daniel Boone Jr. They made their home in Toledo, where they raised their six children. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dixie Alvord; brother, Art Jones; and daughter, Margaret “Mickey” Zion.

She is survived by her husband, Dan of 70 years; sons, DeHart (Sandy) Boone and Greg (Jeri) Boone; daughters, Carol Henwood, Peggy (Ted) Boone-Beavers and Midge (Randy) Davis; son-in-law, Lewis Zion; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She took her first violin lessons at the age of 4, which began a lifelong love of music. She wrote many poems, publishing two books. She also wrote wonderful songs. Her band, The Treble Clefs, performed at area senior centers and nursing homes. She was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers, Eastern Star, Good Sam Camping Club and the Cowlitz Prairie Grange. She served as an advisor to the Rainbow Girls and as a 4-H Leader. She loved to paint and sew, making a lot of her children’s clothes, as they were growing up.

There will be a celebration of life  Aug. 1, 2015 at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo at 10:30 a.m., with a potluck gathering to follow at the Cowlitz Prairie Grange. Viewing will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
