Joyce Jane (Adams) Price, 87, previously of Centralia, Wash., passed away peacefully, March 18, 2018, at her home in Brookings, Ore. She was born in Centralia, Wash., May 6, 1930. Joyce graduated from Centralia High School in Centralia, Wash.

She was married to Stanton Price, May 29, 1948. They were married 49 happy years, after meeting at a Valentine’s Day dance, at the local grange hall.

Joyce was a homemaker, supporting Stan and raising their two daughters. After her children were grown, Joyce continued her education to become a certified nursing assistant and assist those with home dialysis.  Over the years, many have been blessed by her generosity and caring spirit.

She enjoyed canning, the summer garden harvest and any sewing project, most recently completing quilts for each member of her family. As an avid reader, the library could hardly keep up with her and she loved to play cards, but all too often, gave away the wilds. A lifetime love for camping had her enjoying the outdoors through the summer of 2017. Those spending time with her would always find themselves caught up in laughter as she was never short of a good joke, with a memorable punchline.

Joyce was a member of the Methodist Church, actively involved in Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington and was a lifetime Beta Sigma Phi. While living in Centralia, she cherished her weekly get togethers with a group of women affectionately known as the “bowling girls”.  In honor of her loving husband Stan, who faithfully served in the United States Army and was a Prision Of War for nearly four years during World War II, she volunteered for years at the Veterans Museum, in Chehalis, Wash.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; parents, Lyman and Mary (Silver) Adams; brother, John (Earl) Adams and his wife, Mae.

She is survived by her daughters, Malee (Price) Grauman and her husband, Milt of Centralia, Wash., and Joye (Price) Kerr and her husband, Thomas of Brookings, Ore.; four grandchildren, Frank Handoe and his wife, Donna and son, Ryan of Colorado Springs, Colo., Amy (Kerr) Ulery and children; Rex and Kasilyn of Brookings, Ore., Christine Kerr of Ewa Beach, Hawaii and Kimberly (Kerr) Compton and her husband, David and sons, Ethan and Wyatt of Independence, Ore.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2018, at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Rd., Chehalis, Wash. Family and friends are invited to share memories following the service, at a no-host lunch at Country Cousin in Centralia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington Scholarship Foundation, addressed to Administrator of Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Anita Chandler, 13210 Prairie Circle E, Bonney Lake, WA  98391. The family of Joyce Jane Price wishes to thank Coastal Home Health and Hospice.
