John H. Allmer

John H. Allmer passed away peacefully at University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, after his fight with multiple health issues.

Jack was an only son to John H. Allmer and Elise (McElhinney) Allmer. He was born and raised in Chehalis, Wash. He attended Chehalis schools throughout his education. Jack loved sports, Boy Scouts and everything to do with living in this community.

He had to grow up faster than most, due to his father's sickness and passing at a young age for Jack. He got several jobs to support his mother and himself.

Jack wanted to be a police officer. He went to the Academy and became a Lewis County deputy Sheriff, which was a dream come true. Jack loved most of every moment, he met a lot of friends. His best friend, being Jim Rich, who was more like a brother. Through his career, he worked for the Washington State Patrol, Special Olympics and security for a governor at the state capital.

His career change was a difficult time in his life and with the passing of his mother, he struggled to find a purpose in life. Jack had several jobs in which eventually took him back to National Frozen Foods, where he drove truck.

In 2009, he met Jayne (DeBow) Twiss, which was a blind meeting from a dear friend, Ronda Barr. It didn’t take long to see this was going to be the one for him. They married in 2010, and he was very proud to become part of a large family, (larger than he realized). Jack enjoyed every moment talking about great adventures he had and the people that he came to call friends.

He loved animals (dogs) so much, he found two Basset Hounds to bring into the family.

Jack loved that he got to be called Dad (step-dad) and Grandpa Gack.

He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Allmer; mother, Elise (McElhinney) Allmer; and other family members.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jayne; step-daughter, Lisa Crivea (Rick); step-son, Michael Twiss (Shannon); grandchildren, which he loved deeply, Jacie, Martin, Austin, Brooke, Hunter and one on the way; aunt, Carol McElhinney; cousins, Steve (Diana) McElhinney and Karen McElhinney (Tom) Donnelly; and several nieces and nephews, some were blood related and some were not and that did not matter to him.

The family would like to thank the people at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, for the care they gave him, it was beyond exceptional. To U.W. Medical Center, Seattle, for the care he was given and countless hours of everyone that had him as a patient and the doctors teams. You are all a blessing to your careers.

Graveside services will be held at Lone Hill Cemetery, Toledo, Wash., at 11 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018, with a potluck gathering to follow at Kemp Olson Park, S. 6th St., Toledo, WA 98591.
