Jean Calderwood Hanson

Jean Calderwood Hanson, died June 16, 2015, at 101 years of age. She was born in Billings, Montana to Mae Gilmour and Lewis Harrison Smith.

After her parents divorced, she ended up in Pe Ell, Washington with her younger brother, Gilmour Calderwood (deceased) and her mother, where Bixby J. Calderwood joined the family as stepfather to the two children. She graduated from Pe Ell High School in 1932.

A resident of Milwaukie for many years, she retired from Evans Products, where she worked as assistant purchasing agent. In 1951, her husband, Elmer V. Hanson, preceded her in death. For 25 years, Mom was married to Joe Polich (deceased) of Hoquiam, Washington.

She was known for her excellent knitting skills. Her family and friends were the recipients of many beautiful creations.

Jean leaves behind three children, Yvonne Deligiorgis, Gary N. Hanson of Pe Ell and Robert (Joanne) Hanson; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, who also mourn her passing. She was much loved.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hubbard Funeral Home, Castle Rock.
