James (Jim) Stanley Holden passed away to be with our Lord March 10, 2018. Jim resided and died in Tenino, Wash., where he lost his battle with cancer.

He was born to James R. Holden and Milada Kubicek Holden Oct. 27, 1947, at Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Jim graduated from Tenino High School in 1965 and entered college at Centralia Community College, until 1967. At this time, he joined the United States Air Force and during 1967-1970, he served in Alaska and Korea with the United States Air Force Security Service.

After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Hancor, in the logging industry, and Washington Culvert Company, before being hired by the United States Postal Service. He retired from the USPS in 2003.

His love for Alaska never waned , then in 1998 he went back to Alaska and in 2000, he and his wife bought property in the Lake Creek area near Anchorage, Alaska. Jim loved to spend time at the cabin, as he spent most of June and some of August there fishing for King and Silver Salmon. He loved showing his family and friends the wilds of Alaska and to have them be with him at the cabin. Jim would rather be in Alaska, than almost any other place.

Jim was a member of the VFW Post 5878 in Tenino. He was a Past Post Commander and held other offices within the Post. He was always concerned for his fellow Veterans. He participated in Memorial Day Service on the Honor Squad.

Jim was married on Aug. 8, 1998, to Bonnie Cruver Holden in Chehalis, Wash., who continues to reside at their home in Tenino. He was previously married to Janice Campbell October 15, 1973.

Jim is survived by his wife Bonnie Holden; father, James R.
