Ivenell "Ivy" Allen

Posted

We said goodbye to Ivenell "Ivy" Allen, mom and devoted wife to Richard R. Allen of Winlock, on July 10, 2012.

Ivy was born on April 27, 1948, in Pleasant Grove, Ark.,  to John Jeffries and Maebell Jeffries (Sandstorm). She was the sister, of Mary Greene, Joyce Riverbark, Lynda Dow and Floyd Jeffries.  Ivy is preceeded in death by her father, step-father, Johnny Sandstorm, a son Joseph R. Allen, and infant son, Jay.

Ivy met and married her husband, and our dad, Richard R. Allen in 1983. Not only did she bless dad with 29 happy and abiding years, she loved his daughters, like they were her very own. Mom made everything sunny.  She was kind, compassionate, gracious, generous, fiercely loyal, and had an extraordinary intelligence and sense of humor. Always extremely hard working, upon retirement she turned her energies toward sewing, crafts, painting, gardening and landscaping.  Her home was filled with her own personal creative touch.

In addition to her mother, and siblings, she was dearly loved by her husband, Richard, and her surviving children, Lena Allen-Barada of Tri-Cities, Wash., Kerry Allen of Shelton, Wash., Donna Rae Allen-Gaska of Old Lyme, Conn., Barbara Baker of Prince William, Va., and her 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

There are no words descriptive enough to express our grief and loss, nor are we able to adequately express how much we adored her. It is also not enough to say how much we will continue to miss her.

We love you, Ivy, and we always will. Thank you so much for making our dad so happy and the world a better place.

Per her wishes there will be no service held.
