IRENE HAZEL GRIZZLE

1934 – 2011

Irene joined her beloved husband, Buck, in heaven on Feb. 27th.  Born in Los Angeles, CA on Nov. 29th, 1934 to Fred and Caroline Forward, her family moved to Toledo, WA in 1945 where she met and later married the love of her life on Feb. 21, 1953.  Together Irene and Buck lived in Toledo, WA for more than 50 years.   

She leaves behind her four devoted children, Michael (Lisa) Grizzle of Seattle, WA, Sheryl (John) Knappenberger of Tigard, OR, Dianne (Richard) Gruenwald of Yuma, AZ and Beth (Timothy) Malsbury of Katonah, NY; seven wonderful Grandchildren, Katie Knappenberger, Curtis Wild, Jacob Wild, Jason Grizzle, Kristen Grizzle, Ryann Malsbury and Ashton Malsbury; and her three precious great-granddaughters Mya, Riley and Kylee Wild.

She is survived by her sisters, Pat Bailey of Kennewick, WA, Evelyn Burkett of San Diego, CA, and her brother, Dan Forward of Puyallup, WA.

Irene worked for the Toledo School District for 24 years before retiring in 1997.  She was an active member of The Christian Fellowship of Winlock for many years and was most recently a member of the Ballard Baptist Church in Seattle, WA.

A graveside service will be held Thurs. March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the McVicker’s Fir Lawn Cemetery in Toledo, WA, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. A reception will be held immediately after at the Christian Fellowship of Winlock Church.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society – PO Box #19140 Seattle, WA  98109.
