 Glenn James Billings went to his final home June 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash., to Howard and Iris Billings. He grew up in Federal Way, Wash., graduating from Federal Way High School in 1961. Following graduation, Glenn joined the U.S. Army and served his country honorably. He started as an Army Ranger, transferring to the  Military Police at Fort Greely, Alaska. Glenn completed his tour of duty with honors as a non-commissioned officer. One of his fondest memories of his military career was playing basketball on the U.S. Army team.

After his military service, Glenn was  a gifted salesman for many years. He was known for his love of family, music, horses and sports of all kinds, especially Go Dawgs. Glenn coached basketball for many years at Tenino and Olympia High School  and Centralia College. He shared a love of sports with his children and grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Iris; and his older brother, Dennis.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Billings and beloved Beagle dog, Molly at the family home; son, Jason (Christine) of Centralia; daughter, Jennifer Sleeman (Josh) of Eatonville; grandchildren, Hailey Kelly (Ryan Zepp), Jason Kelly, Jacob Billings, Haylee Sleeman, Kayleen Billings, Bo Sleeman and Tommy Billings; great-grandson, Landon Zepp; brother, Tim Billings (Clare); sister-in-law, Linda Billings; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A military service will be held at Grand Mound Cemetery, Friday, June 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at Violet Prairie Grange, concluding with a potluck luncheon.
