George Philip Hewlett

George Philip Hewlett, 76, of Winlock, died peacefully at home Monday, May 9, 2016.  He was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Chehalis, Wash., to Charles A. and Clarice S. (Turner) Hewlett.  

George graduated from W.F. West High School and earned an associate degree in agriculture from Centralia College in 1961.  On Feb. 23, 1963, he married Mary Kaiser. Recently, they celebrated their 53rd anniversary.  George retired from National Fruit Canning Company in 2000, after working 40 years as field man and field manager.  He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Winlock, until it closed. George then became a member of St Francis-Xavier Mission of Toledo, where he enjoyed membership in the SH-SFX men's club, cooking for the Oktoberfests and Lenten fish dinners.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, John (Cindi) of  Laramie, Wyo., daughter, Sandra (Simon) Collins of Arcadia, Calif., grandchildren,  Celina (Zach) Knakmuhs, Joshua (BrieAnna) Hewlett, Clarisa (Kaleb) Heien, Jedidiah, Christiana, Cecilia, and Jeremiah Hewlett; Rachael, Matthew, Samantha, Gabriel and Dominick Collins; his chosen daughter, Shannon (Jeffrey) Grimes of Chehalis, Wash. and their children,  Gailyn (John) Peterson, Emalie, Linae, Liam, Ethan and Grace; great-grandchildren, Emmah, Leeah and Kierah Hewlett,  Susannah and Russell Heien and Felicity Knakmuhs; sister, Patricia (Bob) Knapp; brother, Roy Hewlett;  sisters-in-law, Patricia Richards and Betty Kaiser; several nieces and nephews; and special travel companions and many other close friends, too numerous to mention.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Clarice S. (Turner) Hewlett;  parents-in-law, Vivian and Leo Kaiser; brother, Chuck Hewlett; sisters-in-law, Carol Hewlett and Marjorie Kaiser; and infant grandson, Josiah Hewlett.

A vigil service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis-Xavier Mission Catholic Church, Toledo. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis-Xavier Mission Catholic Church with Fr. John McLaughlin celebrant and Deacons Arturo Ramirez and Loren Lane.
