Gary David Hattrup

Gary David Hattrup, 65, peacefully passed away Feb. 19, 2020, at Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, Wash., surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Diana (Geis) Hattrup. They shared 41 years together.

Gary was born in Cottonwood, Idaho, Sept. 13, 1954, and was the son of Raymond and Mardieze (Trautman) Hattrup. He graduated from Prairie High School, then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for four years. Gary later worked for Washington State Department of Labor and Industries for 27 years before retiring in 2016.

He joined the Navy and served in Vietnam from 1973 to 1977 as a store keeper on the U.S.S. Okinawa. Gary was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed the outdoors and music. He’ll be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, immeasurable strength and stubbornness, that was probably what kept him going so long.

Gary is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters, Cori (Jamie) Fulleton and Kelley Hattrup; grandchildren, Alique, Molleigh, Elijah and Nolan; sisters, Carolyn Hattrup and Camille Hattrup; brother, Gilbert “Duffy” Hattrup; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mardieze Hattrup.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at Grace Church, 1866 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis, WA 98532, with a reception to follow at his home, 119 Fircrest Rd., Chehalis, WA 98532. Memorial donations may be made to Richard Jacobs, VFW Post 4902, P.O.
