Frank J. Dorner passed away Oct. 22, 2019. He was born in Tucson, Ariz., June 30, 1944, to Dorothy and Frank Dorner, and was followed by three brothers and a sister, Joe Dorner (Dana) of Bisbee Ariz., John Dorner (Sharon) of Tempe, Ariz., Steve Dorner (Kate) of Auckland, New Zealand and Sue Dorner Berry (Ron) of Tucson, Ariz.

After high school, Frank joined the United States Air Force and wound up in Anchorage, Alaska. He stayed to become a commercial fisherman from Kodiak all along the Aleutian Chain. In Kodiak, he met and married Linda Dillon. They were married for 46 years. In 1983, they moved to Winlock with their three boys. Frank worked a variety of jobs, ending up at the Vader School District. He liked to say he was their “day man and night man”.

He also coached wrestling for many years in the Toledo/Winlock wrestling program. That is definitely one of the things he was the most proud of. Working with the youth in our area was most rewarding, and to this day those young people are a comfort, a joy and a source of amazement. Retirement was to be a sailboat and a move to Point Roberts, Wash., (look it up). He brought most of his machine shop with him and loved helping his friends and neighbors, fixing any broken thing that they brought to him.

Frank is survived by his wife, Linda; and sons, Frank W. (Amanda) and grandkids, Frankie and Elaine of Kodiak, Alaska, Doug W. and grandkids, Jillian and Tanner and special Friend Zoya of Kodiak, Alaska and Joe W. (Felisa) and grandson, Wyatt of Bellingham, Wash. There are numerous nieces and nephews from Alaska to California and Arizona and Texas, and many special friends that are more like family. The Jones family has a special place in our lives, as do many others.
