Elaine (Edna) Ulry

Elaine Ulry passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2016, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband and daughters.

Elaine was born in Centralia to Raymond and Opal McChesney June 26, 1946. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1964 and worked at Virgil R. Lee & Son insurance office for a short time. Elaine then, began her career for the Washington State Employment Security office. She retired as an employment security officer after 30 years.

Elaine married the love of her life, Will Ulry  June 17, 1967, after he got out of the U.S. Navy.  Together, they shared 52 years together and were married almost 49 years, this June.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Will Ulry; big sister, Jeanne Granger; brother, Raymond McChesney (Joan);  daughters, April Michal (Rick) and Shari Edminster (Ken); grandsons, Andrew Michal, Austin Michal and Carson Edminster; granddaughter, Sami Edminster; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Opal McChesney; and sister, Alberta Borovec.

Elaine was an active member of First Christian Church in Olympia. She was an Elder, served on the church board, participated in the book club, sang in the choir and volunteered in the church office. Her other hobbies included gardening, spending quality time with family, watching the grandchildren play sports, reading, camping, traveling to Hawaii and many other destinations and attending Tumwater High School football games, which she was a season ticket holder since 1983.

Elaine's wishes were to be cremated and taken to the ocean.   A memorial will be held May 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 701 Franklin Street SE, Olympia, WA 98501.  

She loved Hawaii and the family would like to ask you to wear bright colors or Hawaiian clothes to help celebrate her life.
