Edith LaVonne House

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Edith LaVonne House at the age of 73. She passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2020, at home surrounded by family and friends. Edith was born Oct. 16, 1946, in Centralia, Wash. She grew up in Lewis County area and graduated from Onalaska High School.

Edith worked various jobs throughout her life. She worked at National Frozen Foods for many years and for the past 13 years, she worked at the Rite Aid Store, in Centralia. Edith was a warm, selfless and generous person and always put the needs of others before hers. She made friends everywhere she went, maintained high school friendships and her customers at Rite Aid loved her as well.

Edith loved to read and travel, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, first and foremost. Edith was never happier then when she was cheering on her grandkids.  She never missed a chance to watch her grandkids compete in basketball, baseball, football, tennis, swim meets, dance recitals or beauty pageants. She could always be heard in the stands rooting for grandkids and cheering for everything they did. She also loved going on family vacations. Edith created many memories traveling with family to Hawaii, Costa Rica, Disneyland, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Yellowstone and many family cruises. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them.

Edith was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She was the best mother we could ever ask for. Edith always took care of her children and did the best she could to teach and guide them, a loving grandmother and “great-grand” mother. We will miss her every day and she is forever in our hearts.

Edith was a loving and devoted mother of Ron (Karen) House, Scott (Sheila) House and Sherry (Jon) Land, all from Centralia; treasured grandmother of Tristan House, Tarah Land, Brett (Kassandra) House, Kendra Land, and Matthew House; and cherished great-grandmother of Dawsen House.

She was also the loving sister of the late Clayton Pratt, Richard Pratt, Melvin Pratt and Frankie Pratt, dear sister of Don Pratt, Jerry and Kay Pratt, and Linda (Jim) Rohrbaugh.

A celebration of Edith’s life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., March 8, 2020, at the Adna Grange.
