Earl Sundquist

Earl Sundquist, 78, passed away Jan. 1, 2018, in Centralia. He was born May 3, 1939, to Bert and Astrid Sundquist in Brainerd, Minn. Over the years, Earl also lived in Whittier, Calif., Eugene, Ore., Kent, Wash., Los Angeles area of California and Goleta, Calif., before retiring and moving to Chehalis in 1994.  He also lived in Johnstown, Colo., for five years and moved back to Chehalis in 2013, due to his health.

Earl graduated from California High School, Whittier, Calif, in 1957, and in 1966, he earned a bachelor of science degree in finance with a minor in math from the University of Oregon.  He served in the United States Navy. He married Ruth Hunt Aug. 17, 1962, in Los Angeles.  

Professionally, Earl worked for Boeing in Seattle, Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) in Pasadena, Calif., where he was part of the Mariner Mars 1969 Team and Raytheon Company in Santa Barbara, Calif., from 1971 to 1994, as a systems analyst.

He loved golf, fishing, reading, woodworking and computers.  Earl accepted Jesus as his Savior at 17 and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Earl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth of Chehalis; son, Steve of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Sheryl; son-in-law, Jerry; and grandchildren, John, Erica and Jenna, all of Erie, Colo.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, 11 a.m., at Mountain View Baptist Church, 1201 Belmont Ave., Centralia, WA 98531.
