Longtime resident of Toledo/ Winlock, Wash., Dorothy "Dottie" Lund Schommer, 83, passed peacefully at her home Oct. 26, 2018.

Dottie was the first over-the-road female truck driver for Weyerhauser, Longview, Wash. In the summer of 1999, her supervisor, Joe Melton had her drive the truck from Silver Creek to Longview with one tree cut in three 54’ lengths. She honked the horn through Longview as she made her way to the yard. Dottie was also the first female log scaler for Weyerhauser.

She was a life member of the Order Of Eastern Star and really enjoyed salmon and sturgeon fishing with Coho Charters at Illwaco.

Dottie was a well-known horse breeder as owner of Alderbrook Arabians. She was a 60+ year member of the Washington State Arabian Horse Association with proven skills in English pleasure, western, driving and native costume classes.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Angwood; grandson, Jeff Raymond; and granddaughter, Angie Maze; plus other siblings.

Dottie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Schommer.

At her request there will be no services, because, “if you didn’t f****n come for a visit when I’m alive, I don’t want you coming around when I’m dead”. Arrangements are under the care of Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock.
