Dorcas Ida May Gurley

 Dorcas Ida May Gurley, 97, passed away March 30, 2019, in Kingman, Ariz., where she resided with her daughter, Audrey. She was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Denver, Colo., to William and Virgal (O’Dell) McBurney.

Early in life, her family moved to San Francisco. It was there that she met and married her husband, Aubrey B. Gurley. Together, they raised 10 children.

Dorcas loved to crochet, she could make almost anything with her crochet hook and yarn. Every member of her family received an afghan made by her clever hands. She loved gardening and shopping.

In her younger years, she taught Sunday school to the little ones and had a “Good News Club” in her home. Dorcas loved Jesus and always did her best to teach others about Him.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey in 1983; and her eldest son, Aubrey L. Gurley, Dec. 25, 2018.

Dorcas is survived by her children, Ruby, Audrey, Tim (Lin), Rebecca (Robert), Paul (Karen), Ida (Patrick), Joel, John and James; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

A private inurnment will take place at Claquato Cemetery in Chehalis. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
