Delbert "Bert" Bauer

Delbert "Bert" Bauer passed away Nov. 5, 2018.  He was born Feb. 22, 1932, on the family farm in Emmons County, N.D., to Friedrich and Eva Bauer. 

After graduating from high school in Zeeland, N.D., Bert enlisted in the United States Army and served from l951 to 1953. He moved to California in 1954, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft for four years and Garrett Corporation (Airesearch) for 28 years. Bert began working in Jig and Fixture and worked his way up from the “bench” to management.  

In 1957, he married Grace Lee. They had two children, Craig and Cheryl. Bert and Grace retired in 1987, and RV'd full time for four years. They then lived in Montana and Oregon and finally settled in Chehalis, Wash., in 2005. He loved woodworking and his family.  

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Frieda, Maida, Loretta, Jake and Norbert. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace; Craig and his wife, Anita and their children, Blake, Emily (Zach), Drew and Mia; Cheryl and her husband, Scott Amrine and their children Jolynn, Kate and Luke; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2190 Jackson Hwy, Chehalis.
