Darrell Eugene “Gene” Carver passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at home in Port Angeles, Wash. Darrell was born July 5, 1962, in Chehalis, Wash., to Larry and Janice (Beck) Carver.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anna Marie Carver; daughters, Laila Camacho Carver (Leo) and Leah Gould (Michael), all of Port Angeles.

He leaves behind his sister, Sheila “Beila” Smith (Bob) of Adna, Wash.; stepfather, Theril Stout of Morton; stepmother, Cecelia “Ann” Carver of Morton; as the eldest brother, Darrell also leaves behind many stepsiblings, Russell Stout, Tina Stout, Terry Schwartz, Robert Carver, Todd Carver and Teresa Riley. Darrell had two very special nieces, Autumn Hamilton and Sarah Weiher. He also had two men he considered family, Gabriel Kenoyer and Kelly Gould. All of whom he loved very much.

Darrell was a logger and millworker after Mount St. Helens blew. He graduated from Morton High School and attended Peninsula College. He retired from Olympic Corrections Center where he worked as recreation staff.

Darrell’s favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren, Samuel Camacho, Faith Camacho and Ezekiel Gould, all of Port Angeles. He was a great “Poppa” and spent many hours talking about Sasquatch, aliens and other great adventures. He was often times brutally honest and didn’t care what other people thought if they needed to hear the truth. He was a leader and not a follower. Darrell took the role of protector seriously and made everyone feel safe.  He was an accomplished musician and had been a lead guitarist/front man in many rock n’ roll bands.  Darrell was so talented in many ways, as an autodidact, he enjoy learning.  He was a private pilot, studied the bible and martial arts, and enjoyed riding his Harley and riding quads with his grandkids. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for his Rhodesian Ridgebacks dogs, especially his pals, Dub Dub and Pepper. They never left his side.

Pastor Bill Shepherd will lead services at 2 p.m., July 14, 2018, at Doss Cemetery in Mossyrock, Wash. Darrell will be laid to rest with his grandparents, Eugene and Wilma Jean Carver.
