Dan, known in his younger years as Jr., was born at his grandmother’s home across the field from where he had resided for the past 65 years. Our dear devoted father, grandfather, brother and lifelong resident of Toledo, went to be with the Lord at the age of 92. Dan’s integrity to his family, friends and community could always be counted on and he will be missed by all of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mickey Zion (2006); brother, Warren (Buster 2007); and recently his wife of 70 years, Nita (2015).

Dan is survived by five children, Carol Henwood of Galvin, Wash., DeHart Boone (Sandy) of Toutle, Wash., Peggy Boone-Beavers (Ted) of LaPine, Ore., Midge Davis (Randy) of Rainer, Ore., and Greg Boone (Jeri) of Adna, Wash.; brother, Tom Boone of Ethel, Wash.;  son-in-law, Lewis Zion; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He worked in the woods in his early years and later for the Lewis County Road Department, which he retired from 30 years ago. He was a 70 plus year grange member and a 50 plus Masonic Lodge member. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding horses and belonged to the Lewis County Trail Dusters. Dan was also a member of the Moose Lodge, bowling leagues and Napawina Good Samaritan Club. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m., Feb. 3, 2018, at Firlawn Funeral Home in Toledo. A reception and potluck will follow at the Cowlitz Prairie Grange. Food items can be dropped off there starting at 1 p.m.

Donations can be made in Dan’s name to either the Masonic Scholarship Fund, Salkum Chapter, Robert Morris Lodge #97, c/o Lewis Zion, 132 Grey Rd., Toledo, WA 98591, or the Cowlitz Prairie Grange, PO Box 1295, Toledo, WA 98591.
