Claud LeRoy Masten

Claud LeRoy Masten was born May 4, 1924, in Roundup, Mont. His parents were Blye Masten and Mary Ellen Small Masten.

Claud, his parents and his siblings left Roundup when he was 13 and moved to Rainier, Wash. There, Claud graduated from high school. He joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II. After he left the Navy, Claud went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Company.

He married Marie Berg, Aug. 30, 1946. They were married for nearly 73 years. They had two children, a son David and daughter, Terri. During their marriage, they lived in several locations, the most notable was Borneo, Indonesia. There, Claud started up a logging operation for Weyerhaeuser. The couple lived in Indonesia for five years.

After his retirement from Weyerhaeuser, he and Marie enjoyed traveling. Claud also enjoyed woodworking. He was an excellent gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. He also enjoyed a spirited game of cards.

Claud is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; son, David (Vicki) Masten; daughter, Terri (Mike) Lusk; four grandsons, Travis Lusk, Craig Lusk, Chris Masten and Brian Masten; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Edith McReynolds; brother, George Masten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He passed away peacefully at the family home in Adna, May 10, 2019. The family is grateful for the kindness of his caregiver, Gloria and the staff of Assured Hospice. Per his request, no services are planned.
