Charles F. McGovern, 88, passed away Feb. 5, 2016 in peaceful surroundings, after a brief illness.

Chuck was a longtime member of the community and was active in various fraternal organizations.   He was born in Concrete, Washington, Aug. 2, 1927 and spent most of his youth in the Skagit River Valley area.

He was in the U.S. Navy for a brief stint and then ended up in Forest Grove, Oregon at Pacific University. He connected with the Haney brothers and drove truck for Haney Truck Line and somehow ended up in Seattle, Washington, checking out the insurance business.  All this time, he was inseparable with his wife, Ethel of over 60 years. This led him to Virgil R. Lee & Son Insurance, where he spent many years. Chuck became a partner and retired fairly young.

Chuck’s endeavors have been varied, from building a mini storage, buying, renting and selling properties, revamping equipment to even investing in four cabooses. He even dabbled at being an author. His main hobbies were boating and traveling with Ethel, his beautiful spirited life partner. We know they are now, together again, as it should be.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Karen and Kay; two grandsons, Ryan and Eric; and a niece, Sandie.

We know he is in

PEACE…

we’ll miss him.
