Charles “Chuck” M. Sharp passed away Oct. 2, 2019, at Vancouver PeaceHealth Hospital. He was born in Marlinton, W. Va., April 15, 1950. Chuck, his mother, Fleeta and siblings, lived a simple life in the mountains without modern conveniences like electricity or running water.

In 1962, they moved west, where Chuck attended school in Chehalis. While in high school, he enlisted and served four years in the United States Navy. He made his career at I.P. Callison, retiring early to become a gentleman farmer and caregiver for family. He was able to do some traveling, dreaming of doing more.

Married to Chris Hull, August 5, 1972, they shared 47 years together. They did a bit of moving for a while, first to West Virginia to seek out family, returning to Washington where they lived in Renton, then the Centralia/Chehalis area. Eventually, they moved to the Hull family’s original home on Newaukum Hill to provide care for family members, which he did until his last breath.

Chuck was a hot rod enthusiast. He owned over 100 vehicles during his life, some before having a driver’s license. He was always buying, restoring,  selling cars, car parts and going to car shows. He made a lot of friends in that world, and surely, by snatching deals first, made some folks unhappy. The only thing compared to his love of muscle cars was his only grandson, Liam. Chuck always had room in his heart for his nephews, nieces and other children he met along the way.

He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with family. He will be remembered for how he could see potential in everything, willingness to share his knowledge, his compassion, generosity and ability to show how much he loved those close to him.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Chris Sharp; son, Seth and wife, Noel; grandson, Liam Charles; and daughter, Sara. He is also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other family members, including, brother-in-law, Daryl Hull, who lived with them for 14 years.

Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of life from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 2, 2019, at the Newaukum Grange Hall. All hot rods, classic cars, street rods, rat rods, whatever your style, are welcome!
