Bunnie Rae (Howard) Jonas

Posted

Bunnie Rae (Howard) Jonas, 73, went to be with our Heavenly Father Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019. She was born to Norman and LuElla Howard Jan. 12, 1946. She had four sisters, Marilyn Galster (deceased), Joyce Nelson (deceased), LaVerne (Jim) Haslett of Napavine, Wash., twin sister, Bonnie (John) Morris of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; and one brother, Ed (Linda) Howard of Auburn, Wash.

In 1964, Bunnie graduated from Mossyrock High School. A tribute from her senior annual reads, “How far this little candle throws her beam”, and her entire life certainly proved that this tribute was literally true. After graduation, she moved to Port Angeles, Wash., where she met Gene Jonas at the bowling alley, and her single days were over. They married in 1967, and soon after, moved to Centralia, Wash.

Bunnie was among the first students at the new beauty school and became a professional hairdresser, running her own business for many years. She was married to Gene for 50 years until his passing in 2018.

They are survived by two daughters, Amber (Trevon) Wilson of Centralia, Wash., and Amanda (Leon) Patton of Centralia; as well as five grandchildren, Michael (Gemma), Christopher (Heather), Jessica, Jared and Alexis; and two great-grandchildren, Job and Summer.

Bunnie was a beautiful Christian person who lived unselfishly for others. If there was a service needed, Bunnie’s hands with her master’s heart were always available. She used her professional skills to cut hair for the homeless and she is on record for up to 1000 free haircuts. She loved to teach the word of God one-on-one and she made every effort to share her faith while she devotedly ministered to the needy.

We will miss her!

A memorial potluck will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 18, 2020, at Borst Park Kitchen #2.
