Betty J. Chambers, 74, passed away June 13, 2018, at Swedish Medical Center First Hill in Seattle. She was born in Bowling Green, Ky., July 8, 1943, to Evert and Dorothy Graham.

She met and married her husband, Clyde Chambers in California. They were married Dec. 31, 1959, and went on to have four children. Betty worked hard all her life and had a variety of jobs ranging from a food truck, sale barn cafe, housekeeper, a paper route driver for 26 years with The Chronicle, an upholstery business and she was also the owner of a mini mall that eventually became a storage business. Her favorite job was when she got her Nursing Assistant Certification and became an in home caregiver for the elderly.

Betty enjoyed in her earlier days with Clyde, motorcycle riding, going to the Moose Lodge, the Eagles and bowling. She even learned to fly and took her solo flight. Betty more recently enjoyed gardening, but especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family on special gatherings. One of her favorite things to do was host a fondue for people who had never experienced one. It did not matter who passed through her door, she always wanted to make sure that they were well fed.

Betty loved to socialize and never missed an opportunity to go to a gathering or celebrate a family event. She always sent cards and attended funerals to provide support and comfort to those she cared about. She was involved with the Republican Party as a caucas leader, as well as volunteering at the voting booths. Betty supported and donated to the National Rifle Association. She gave to both The Young Life Christian Group and Shepard’s Chapel.

She was generous, compassionate, selfless, determined and strong. Betty was always thinking of others before herself. She was a strong role model for her family and lived out the example of how not to give up even when things are tough.

Betty is survived by her brother, Dean (Anne) Graham; children, Debbie (Tyler) Bagge, Shawn Chambers, Jodi (Ken) Steele and Patrick (Vicky) Chambers; grandchildren; Blake Anthony, Sara Bagge, Taylor Chambers, Elizabeth (Levi) Garrison, Karissa (Chris) Murdoch, Sierra Steele and Skylar Chambers; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Garrison, Elaina Garrison and one on the way!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Chambers.

Services will be held at Newell-Hoerling’s Chapel, Friday, June 22, 2018, beginning with a viewing at 10 a.m., and a funeral service at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside committal service at Claquato Cemetery.
