Edward (Ed) Dean Knoop

Edward (Ed) Dean Knoop, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family  Thursday, May 21, 2015, in Chehalis, Washington, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born in Sioux City, Iowa on Dec. 10, 1938 to the late, Frederick Henry II and Hallie J. Knoop. He was one of nine children.

In 1957, after graduating from Newcastle High School ,in Nebraska, Ed came out to Washington State,  where he got a job haying in the Orilla Valley for the summer. He landed a job at Boeing, building planes and then ventured onto the Bellevue Water District, where he worked for five years. On April 2, 1960 Ed married Elizabeth Hall in Renton, Washington. They came to Lewis County in 1965, where they owned and operated an 80 acre dairy farm, south of Winlock, off the Vader-Winlock highway. He spent 25 years working for Reynolds Metals Aluminum Company in Longview and retired at 55 years old.

Ed was  a loving family man, everything he did was for them. He loved his family so much. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Ed enjoyed being with his family and supporting them in all things. He built and remodeled four houses and helped family remodeling projects. He was always helping others, he was involved with the Cougar Flat Grange as the master and overseer, Mayfield Grange Camp Assistant Director, Vader Fire Department Commissioner, played Santa Claus for the grange and the Rochester school and volunteered in cleanup of the 2007 local area flooding.

Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Liz; children, Linda (Mike) Perry, Lana (Steve) Monesmith, Laurie (Steve) Ahmann, Fred (Svetlana) Knoop, Leslie (Randy) Wood, Linnie Farbo and Lara Bange; 23 grandchildren; 16  great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister,  Donna; brother, Alfred; grandson, Jeffrey; and granddaughter, Cassie

A memorial service for Edward will be June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jackson Prairie Assembly of God Church with a potluck following.
