Karen L. Kilty

Karen L. Kilty was born Feb. 17, 1943 and passed away on Oct. 6, 2003 at age 60 after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born in Flushing, NY to John James (Jack) and Lucile H. Kilty, who have preceded her in passing.

Karen led a life of challenges and successes. After graduating from Robert Morris Business College in Pittsburgh, PA Karen served in an administrative capacity with the U.S. State Department being station-ed in Brussels, Belgium.

Karen then returned to New York City to work as a paralegal assistant for a highly respected law firm in Manhattan for several years.

Adventure, challenges and success continued to follow Karen as she moved to Anchorage, AK in 1974 to work for Alyeska Pipeline Services Company. Karen worked in several capacities with Alyeska including the Law Depart-ment, the Environment and Engineering Division. She also served as a Govern-ment Relations Specialist and then as a Paralegal Supervisor.

Karen retired in 2000 after 23 years of distin-guished and dedicated service.

Karen then moved to Rochester, WA after her retirement to enjoy the life of a country setting, surrounded by her beloved animals and loved ones in peace and serenity.

Among Karen's passions in life was her love and devotion to her animals. Two Arabian horses and several family dogs and cats' lives were enriched with Karen's selfless caring, love and devotion.

Karen is survived by her brother Kent C. (K.C.) Kilty and extended family, Phyllis and Calvin Ryan of Olympia, WA; Beth, Chuck and Kendra Dillon of Rochester, WA; Toni Ponto, Margaret Byrum, Debbie Erickson, Susan Dimaggo, Neil Martin, all of Anchorage, AK; and her beloved animals: Thee Dude, Baron, Jigs and Freeway.

A visitation to celebrate Karen's life will be held at 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Centralia, WA.
