Anne Marie (Hull) Wachtveitl, a cherished wife, mother, daughter and friend, fought courageously for 22 years in her battle against breast cancer. On Christmas day 2018, Anne peacefully passed away at the age of 58, surrounded by her family who will miss her every day.
She was a sweet, little miracle from birth, born to Clarence and Patricia Hull in Ventura, Calif., Oct. 7, 1960; after Patricia was on bed rest for 5 and a half months! Anne spent the first five years of her life in California, before relocating to Chehalis, Wash., with her family in 1966. She graduated from W. F. West High School and attended Centralia College before transferring to Washington State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
While at WSU, Anne met her husband, Don and they married shortly after their graduation. She worked in advertising early in her marriage, but once children became part of the picture; Anne stayed at home and raised three of the luckiest kids around. For the last few years, with the exception of this last year of her battle, Anne worked full-time as the secretary at Heritage Christian School in Bothell, Wash., and was beloved by staff, students and families alike.
Her family and friends find comfort in knowing that for a woman of such strong, profound faith, she was welcomed into Heaven on what is probably the biggest celebration day of the year, the birth of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Anne is survived by her husband, Don; children, Caitlin, Rachel and Drew; mother, Pat Hull; brother, Chuck (Nancy) Hull; maternal aunt, Marie (McPherson) Rogers; as well as many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, both near and far. In addition to her family, Anne is also survived by friends all over the globe, who loved her and considered her a soul sister and one of the best of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Hull, who we know she was so anxious to see again, she left this earth just one day prior to the 10th anniversary of his passing; a couple of siblings lost in childbirth; paternal grandparents, Milla and Elvin Hull; and her maternal grandparents, William and Ernestine McPherson.
Though she grew up in a small town, Anne’s loving energy reached all corners of the world, mostly due to her love of travel and ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She was the definition of, “It’s not what you say to people, it’s how you make them feel.” It brings her family incredible comfort to know she was so well-loved, near and far and that everyone she met knew, just as they did, how amazingly special she was. The family would like to publicly express thanks to Mom’s healthcare team: the many amazing nurses we met along the away, Dr. Susan Montgomery, who took over the care of Mom when she was at her most sick/vulnerable and the numerous friends and family members who have been such an amazing support over the last year. From delivering meals, taking Mom to doctor appointments, visits with Mom, taking care of her overwhelmed (at times) ICU nurse daughter, helping with transporting the other, out of state daughter, planting flowers/weeding and the list goes on and on. We were so well taken care of by so many and we will never be able to put into words how thankful we are for our massive support system (almost all of whom were single-handedly recruited by Anne). Thank you for continuing to hold us up during this time of loss and sorrow.
A memorial service for Anne will be held at Shoreline Christian Reformed Church in Shoreline, located at 14555 25th Ave. NE, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at 3 p.m. A reception will follow at the same location. There will not be any burial services at this time.
Rest in peace, our beautiful wife, mother, friend and guardian angel; until we meet again. You will always be our Wonder Woman and we love you to heaven and back!
