Ann Reed, 93, of Randle, Wash., passed away April 21, 2019, unexpectedly at home. She was born in London, England, Aug. 20, 1925, to John and Rebecca Radley. Ann was the last child of seven. Ann had four brothers and two sisters.

Growing up in England, Ann and her family used to go on trips during the summer picking hops and selling it to make money. Before graduating high school, Ann got into the sewing industry and worked at a sewing facility. She later started sewing the badges on the uniforms for the military.

While visiting friends in Minnesota, Ann met the neighbor boy, Marty, who became the love of her life for the next 70 years. After locating to the town of Randle, where her husband was employed by the United States Forest Service, Ann became very active in the community. She was a member of the Mt. Adam’s Orthopedic Guide, Silver Spray Rebekah’s, Women’s Society of Christian Service (The Methodist Church) and the Illahee Garden Club (member since 1959). She won many ribbons for her artistic ability in floral arrangements and was a judge at flower shows. Ann was proud of the development of the Garden Club Park. She was also active in the yearly making of Christmas wreath and swag program, which her granddaughter, Becca often helped her with. Ann always volunteered around the community and helped out with as many projects as she could. She volunteered for many years at the Randle food Bank. Ann also enjoyed baking and was noted for generously giving her homemade food items to someone else’s bake sale.

A dedicated family woman and caring mother, she was always concerned about the well being of her children, even in their older days. Ann experienced years of celebration and alike, always there for family through hardships that she always offered positivity and a helping hand.  Through time and love the family has always prevailed with the help of her kindness.

She is survived by her three sons, Bruce of Randle, Mike (Carol) of Rochester and Brian of Randle; four grandkids, Jon Lowther of LaCenter, Jeff Reed of Rochester, Becca White (Chris) of Napavine and Michelle Schoonover Mayer of Burbank; and nine great-grandkids, Savanna, Dylan, Peyton, Jax, Eljay, Darius, Victoria, Conner and Wyatt.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 70 years; all six of her brothers and sisters; and her daughter-in-law, Donna.

Funeral services to say goodbye will be held at a later date. Whether she was called Ann, mom, grandma, Nana or friend, she will be missed by all that knew her.
