Alice Hannah Zion passed away Nov. 16, 2015 at the age of 94. Alice Hannah (Allen) Zion was born in Craig, Colorado April 30, 1921 to Glenn and Alice (Magnuson) Allen.  She was the oldest of seven siblings. She grew up during the depression and her father did farm work for other people.  Some of her chores were to pack water up from the creek, getting the horses in from pasture and taking care of the bummer lambs that sheep herders driving flocks by their farm would give to her to raise.

Alice married John H. Zion of Winlock, Washington, June 4, 1939 in Silt, Colorado.  After her marriage, she moved to Winlock, where they raised three children, Lewis Glenn, Samuel Lee and Norma Louise.

She was a Cub Scout leader when her two sons were in Scouts.  She was one of the leaders of the Winlock Better Livestock 4-H Club in the 1950s.  Alice enjoyed cooking for her family, making quilts and doll clothes for her granddaughters. She loved spending time with her seven grandchildren.  Alice was a member of the Winlock Baptist Church and later, the Chehalis Baptist Church, where she did volunteer work.

She and her husband moved from Winlock to Pe Ell and then to Raymond, Washington.  When her husband died from a logging accident on April 16, 1970 she moved to Chehalis to be closer to her sons, who lived in the area. She did elder care for various members of her church.  She made many friends and was very happy there.

Alice is survived by her sons, Lewis (Marlene) Zion, Sam (Terry) Zion both reside in Toledo, Washington; daughter, Norma (Richard) Klein of Sequim, Washington; seven grandchildren, Craig Zion of Centralia, Washington, Dennis Zion of Toledo, Washington, Nancy Zion of Chehalis, Washington, Stuart Zion of Unalaska, Alaska, Stefanie Wahl of Chehalis, Washington, Major Eric Klein, U.S. Army, Junction City, Kansas and Benjamin Klein of Concrete, Washington; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
