Alan Allport Towne, 57, passed away peacefully at home in Centralia, Wash. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. He was born on June 28, 1956 in Centralia, Wash.

He was a kind and generous man with a huge heart. He was a very active member of Grace Foursquare Church and New Hope Church.

Alan was a recycler by trade and started and ran the aluminum can recycling ministry which supported the Celebrate Recovery Children's Ministry. He also participated one Friday of the month ministering to the children as well. Alan was always one of the first to sign onto help and one of the last to leave.

Alan was very humble and liked to help behind the scenes. Everyday he was helping and loving others whether they were family, friends or church family.

He had a great sense of humor and there was not a day gone by where he wasn't cracking a joke. Alan loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing with his friends. This is a great loss and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Alan is survived by his four children, Joel Towne of Kent, Wash., Shyla (Christian) Winterholler of  Kent, Wash., Ashley Towne of Federal Way, Wash. and Mike Stanek of Ellensburg, Wash.; one brother, Ira (Bud) Towne of Centralia, Wash.;  seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death  by his sister, Cheryl Griffith; brothers, Jerry Towne, Walter Towne and Arthur Towne; and parents, Ira and Myrtle Towne.

Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. April 19, 2014 at Grace Foursquare Church, 3030 Borst Ave., Centralia, WA 98531 with Pastor Keith Hopkins.
