WSDOT: Expect Traffic Delays for STP Bike Ride July 11-12

Drivers should prepare for travel delays and take extra care as the 2015 Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic rolls through Western Washington beginning Saturday, July 11.

Organizers expect 10,000 cyclists to travel on local roads and state highways during the event. The Washington State Department of Transportation asks drivers to share the road, keep a sharp eye on cyclists and allow extra time for travel.

Bicycles are also reminded of their responsibilities to follow Washington’s rules of the roads.

The STP route follows state highways and roads in these local areas: state Route 507 from Roy to Centralia; Centralia and Chehalis city streets; county roads from Napavine to Winlock and to Vader; state Route 506 in the Vader area; and Westside Highway from Vader to Castle Rock.
