Verizon Expands Coverage to Ashford, Mount Rainier National Park Entrance

Verizon customers in the town of Ashford just outside Mount Rainier National Park now have the capability to utilize Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service for the first time due to newly-installed cell sites.

“For the first time, customers in Ashford can now experience the speed and capabilities offered by Verizon’s 4G LTE network,” a Verizon representative said in an email. “Verizon is the first carrier to provide service to Ashford, which follows last year’s announcement of proposed network implementation around Mount Rainier.”

The service covers the town of Ashford and extends to the national park’s entrance.

The National Park Service will make a decision later this month on a proposal to install small cell antennas inside the visitor center at Paradise. If approved, the cell installation would provide improved cell phone coverage to the Mount Rainier area. Construction would likely be delayed until late fall to avoid peak visitor months of June through September, a Verizon representative said.

“The new service reinforces that Verizon’s network in Washington offers superior performance for customers, making it the best option for unlimited data plans,” a Verizon representative said of the service expansion to Ashford.

According to a RootScore Report released in February by RootMetrics, Verizon was rated the No. 1 network in Washington for the seventh time in a row. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm.
