Vandals Cause Serious Damage to Winlock High School Baseball Field

Vandals caused a significant amount of damage to the Winlock High School baseball field over the weekend, and a law enforcement investigation is now underway.

Authorities were contacted about the damage at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

The field, dugouts and property were spray-painted with racial slurs, profanity and phrases of a sexual nature, said Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dusty Breen.

Additionally, Breen said vandals spray-painted obscene pictures depicting genitalia, tipped over a portable toilet, spread garbage around and pulled up bases from the field.

Breen said certain areas, like the dugouts, seemed to be almost entirely covered in spray paint depicting explicit images, slurs and profanity.

The amount of vandalism means the vandals could have been at work for “quite a while,” Breen said, adding that it was likely a group of individuals.

Investigators are actively following up on leads, he said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 360-748-9286.
