Deputies are currently searching for a Chehalis man who failed to return to jail after he was released from custody on a one-day furlough by a Lewis County Superior Court judge earlier this week.

Kevon Leo Tracy, 41, was supposed to return to the Lewis County Jail by 5 p.m. Monday in order to complete a pending prison sentence for first-degree attempted malicious mischief. He also has several additional pending felony charges for alleged violation of a protection order.

Superior Court Judge Richard Brosey released Tracy for a day for the purpose of securing housing after he completes his prison sentence, said Deputy Prosecutor Kjell Warner. Tracy also said he needed to get property stored.

Warner said the Chehalis man was looking at a 32-month prison sentence.

After Tracy failed to return, deputies began searching for him and went to several places where he might be located in Lewis County, but have been unsuccessful so far in their search.

Tracy is a white man with blue eyes and brown and grey hair. He weighs approximately 175 pounds and is 5-foot-10.

“These situations create a drain on my resources, put deputies at risk and create unnecessary fear for witnesses and victims involved,” said Sheriff Steve Mansfield in a release. “We are doing everything we can to locate Mr. Tracy so the victim can rest assured knowing he is in prison, where he belongs.”

Those with information about Tracy’s whereabouts are urged to call the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at (360) 748-9286 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-748-6422, if tipsters wish to remain anonymous.
