New technology has allowed local law enforcement to generate a rendering of a woman whose skeletal remains were found in rural East Lewis County on April 7, 2011.

To date, the identity of the victim is unknown, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.  Through a partnership between the sheriff and prosecutor’s offices, cold case detectives are reviewing the case.

“The partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office in maintaining the Cold Case Detectives is vital in the search for answers as to this person’s identity. This new information is an important step in answering many questions and bringing us closer to closure for her family,” said Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer in the press release.

With advances in technology and with help from Snapshot DNA Analysis, a new, more reliable image of the woman has been created. It was made with further information on skin, eye and hair color, freckles and ancestry.

“The search for answers in this case has been ongoing since the remains were found, and the partnership in creating the Cold Case Detective Division has allowed the search to continue. This new information brings us one step closer to answering many remaining questions. I am excited at the progress being made and the new information that has been obtained,” said Sheriff Rob Snaza in the press release.
