U.S. Highway 12 Resurfacing Project Beginning Monday

Posted

The resurfacing of heavily worn pavement covering 16 miles of U.S. Highway 12 between Joerk Road, at milepost 118, and Grizzly Road, at milepost 134, will begin on Monday, June 12.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes while crews alternate traffic through the work area on weekdays during daylight hours, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph from 55 mph for safety reasons. The work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled due to rain.

“This work will help keep the highway in good shape for several years,” said WSDOT Project Engineer Colin Newell. “We appreciate the public’s patience while the crews are out on the road, and they will be rewarded with a smoother ride.”

This year, WSDOT is improving the section of U.S. Highway 12 between Packwood and Rimrock Lake. For the most up-to-date information, visit wsdot.wa.gov or dial 511.
