Toledo Airport Gets Grant From FAA for Upgrades

The airport near Toledo will be seeing some upgrades thanks to a grant.

The Board of County Commissioners accepted a $288,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for the Ed Carlson Memorial-South Lewis County Airport at its Monday meeting.

The money will be used for the reconstruction of the main parallel taxiway to the standard width of 35 feet, and the vertical approach slope indicator will be replaced with a precision approach path indicator, which guides pilots when approaching the runway.

The Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Division and the county will each be contributing $16,000 to the project.
