Thurston County to Take Public Comments on Thurston Conservation District Rates and Charges

Posted

The Thurston County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a public hearing for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Thurston County Courthouse, Building 2, Room 280, to receive public comments on the proposed rates and charges for the Thurston Conservation District.

The Thurston Conservation District ended a 10-year funding cycle in 2017. The district did not receive funding for 2018, but used surplus to cover the year’s expenses and continue programs. The Thurston Conservation District is requesting the commissioners reinstate its funding stream through a new rate schedule for 2019 – 2023.

The proposed rates schedule has separate land use categories and a cap of $5 per year. In some instances, citizens may see a decrease on their 2019 tax statement from their 2017 tax statement.
