Three Write-In Candidates Lead Lewis County Races

Three write-in candidates are leading election bids in Lewis County, according to the Lewis County Auditor’s Office: Don Bradshaw, running for Winlock Mayor; Jim Fluckinger, running for Toledo City Council, and Craig Bassit, for Water-Sewer District 6 commissioner.

Bradshaw, a former mayor of Winlock who decided late in this year’s election cycle to try for another term, is currently leading incumbent Lonnie Dowell.

“I have never seen it happen before but that just goes to show the grassroots support I had,” Bradshaw said.

After the auditor’s office released its second round of vote counts Wednesday, Bradshaw was leading with 40.97 percent of the vote to Dowell’s 33.48 percent.

Toledo’s Jim Fluckinger didn’t file to retain his seat in the city council’s Position 1, but entered the race as a write-in later.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Fluckinger was narrowly leading challenger Eric Duerst with 82 to 81 votes.

In Water-Sewer District 6, Bassitt is leading incumbent George Penzenik with 62.86 percent of the vote, or 44 of 70 total votes.
