‘The Magical Land of Oz’ Comes to Evergreen Playhouse

“The Magical Land of Oz” is coming to the Evergreen Playhouse this weekend. More than 60 homeschool students will perform in this musical on Friday night at 7 p.m. and twice on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tiffany Venters, Angela Wilcox and Andrea Gallien are directing the musical.

“Every song has a different genre, so it’s really fun to see the characters that we’re all familiar with singing in new ways,” Venters said. “I mean the kids have put in a lot of work — they’re really hard workers.”

The cast has been rehearsing this seven-song musical since Jan. 5. Members range from ages 5 to 18. Wilcox said since Fridays were the only official rehearsal days, she and the other two directors made sure students knew they had to practice at home.

“We were upfront with them that we would only have 15 total rehearsals to do this musical,” Wilcox said. “They did really well.”

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at pathpresents.brownpapertickets.com. Admission is $8.
