Tenino, Rochester Residents to Put Their Grocery Sack Packing to the Test

Three people from Thurston County will compete in the Washington state best bagger competition, which is set for 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Washington State Fair’s Coca-Cola stage.

The Thurston County contestants are:

• Lori Holt from Tenino Market Fresh in Tenino.

• Nicholas Hardin from Bailey’s IGA in Rochester.

• Ernie Trujillo from Ralph’s Thriftway in Olympia.



Others in competition are from Whidbey Island, Stevenson, Tacoma, Quincy, Seattle and Spokane Valley.

The best bagger competition is sponsored by the Washington Food Industry Association. The winner receives $2,000 in cash and an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the 2017 National Grocers Association Best Bagger championship in Las Vegas.

A Washington state contestant has won the national title three of the last four years, according to a news release.
