On Tuesday Tenino Mayor Bret Brodersen held a public hearing at the regular city council meeting to remove a member of the city’s planning commission.

Francisco “Paco” Wenzel, the chair of the commission, had become inactive in his role at the end of 2014.

Wenzel was appointed to the position in October 2011, but had missed every planning commission meeting from January to August this year.

Brodersen called for Wenzel’s removal for not completing his duties. According to the mayor, city officials had tried to contact Wenzel both by email and telephone and did not receive any response when they asked him to contact the city.

“As far as I’m aware and staff is aware, he has not been involved with city government since the end of 2014,” Brodersen said.

Wenzel was not present at the meeting and no community members spoke on the matter. The council unanimously approved the removal of Wenzel from the commission and declared Position 4 vacant.

Toward the end of the meeting, the council approved a resolution to appoint Fred Evander to serve on the board.
