OLYMPIA (AP) — Republican presidential nominee hopeful Ted Cruz had planned to be in Washington state this week but the Texas senator has suspended his campaign.

Cruz announced his decision Tuesday after losing Indiana's Republican primary.

Cruz had a public rally planned in Spokane Wednesday afternoon, ahead of a private fundraiser in Redmond that evening. He also had a public rally planned in Bothell Thursday morning.

Front runner Donald Trump may be in the state this weekend, though no details of a Washington visit have been officially released. John Kasich is also likely to visit the state next Monday, though his campaign has not yet released any further details. The state Republican Party announced Tuesday that Kasich would attend the party's state convention on May 19.

Washington state's presidential primary is on May 24, with 44 delegates at stake.
